2nd life

second life - oh deary me, what a way to spend ones time.......

skype - someone at the gym told me about it about a year ago and I set up a skype account. I met someone in Canberra who gave me her email address and said about keeping in touch with skype. I bought a headpiece so I could use it, but she only emails me about once a month and we have not used skype either.

facebook, myspace and something else.

I was called into the cityfor a meeting last Friday morning, so could not learn more about facebook/myspace and other things. I already have a facebook acccount. I set it up about 1 year ago. To a large extent I find it a waste of time. Someone in UK kept telling me she had changed her wallpaper, or nudged me, or something equally time wasting.

A women in Canada went to th esame uni as me, but about 3 years earlier than me.

A dancer I know in Melbourne must have looked me up because she questioned some of my options - so I went and updated my profile about 2 weeks ago.

I heard that one woman used it like an internet dating site and searched for a male and found a partner on Mypsace. Also a friend of mine sons friend was contacted by a female and they met from using Myspace or Facebook. The males had travelled around the world and came back to Melbourne and put up some of their photoes. I might look into this possibilty at some point in the future.

igoogle and downloading from library

Today we had a look at igoogle - a sort of home page for things which interest us. We looked at google maps and I found the place where I lived. I sent the information to my brother and brother in law by email. There is an email option but they do not have gmail accounts, so Anette and I were not sure whether it would work. So I copied and pasted the info to them.

Annette showed us how to search and download books from Yarra Plenty and /or Brisbane libraries. Useful for someone who wants to read on a laptop or PC instead of a book. Annette mentioned using an MPS player - perhaps that was for music downloads? I do not have a use for that at the moment.

Utube 2 - Irish set dancing - olympics

Here is a utube video of some people who do Irish set dancing in Ivanhoe - just opposite the library. Here is the link and info. The Ceili Mor is held in
Port Fairy every August. I think this year is the last one. I leave this afternoon. The Ballyvourney at normal speed takes about 7 minutes and 20 seconds. The music for this video was speeded up and hence th efast pace of the dance.

I've uploaded our Video of the 2004 Ceili Mor Ballyvourney spot tohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FfhR7PQsLo5 minutes 10 seconds of fame.

Enjoy :)
I started using utube today. I searched on 'brush dance' - a special sort of Irish dance. I woman from Clare(I think ) said it is performed as part of a marriage ceromony. Last year Gerry Butler, an Irish set dance teacher did some displays for us.

The link to watch him in action is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LztG8X9zaFs - hope you enoy it. There are lots of others with his name.

There are other brush dance videos on utube including one I watched of some young girls. Today I saw a description on utube 6 year old brush dancer and Four small girls brush dancing . I think it is one of them. I saw one at The Harp in Sydney - probably from last year.

Thats enough for now. I might come back later and do another blog.

Flickr - Urban Beach Tour 2008 - Milton Keynes

i selected this photo because it was the first one that looked interesting - it was taken in the same suburb that a sister and my mum live. My brother-in-law might be interested in it too.
